Before you begin your DIY door installation, remove the old door and check that the doorway is square. I will use it again and again.Just to let you know we love the product and will be putting in another door. If the door and hinges are on the right side, it is a right-hand door.Always picture this from the inside, or the room the door swings into. These doors should be installed by a knowledgeable pro because the rough-in opening in the wall will have to be enlarged.If your measurements don’t closely match the standard size for doors available at the store, but you’re not prepared to enlarge or narrow the existing door frame, know that manufacturers will create pre-hung doors to your exact specifications.
My husband loved the concept and easy steps. This can be done with an existing door (finished opening) or a rough opening (where you can see the 2x4's).For reference, standard interior door widths range from 24"-36" (finished opening). Then I was on-line looking for some help on how to make it a little easier to hang the doors, because we were replacing all of the inside doors. The unfinished natural wood frame can be installed to either side of the door opening. I looked online and found the website and ordered enough for the house project we had underway. The EZ Door Hangers made hanging two sets of French doors much simpler. At first we were trying to hang the door the old fashion way, using shims. I was able to hang each door within minutes and the doors open and close better than my parents who had them installed by high end installers! 24 in. A little more web research on how-to videos gave me better details on how to use your brackets on both sides of each door jamb for much better stability.
It’s common to have to add some shims for a tight fit. This was my first time hanging a door. You should add 2-1/2″ to the height of the actual door. Been in the building trades business for over thirty years and the EZ hang brackets are the most inventive and cost and labor savings product I have ever come across. So if each door measures 30 inches wide, the width of the rough opening should be 62 inches. 0.
