fisher cat in ct sound

This was around 11 am…thought they only came out at night? She took off and we haven’t seen them since. I had never heard this before – I thought it was a wounded animal or a small child screaming! They scream, rip things to shreds, and are all over Connecticut. Our St. Bernard was out for her last “business” trip before bed and must have encountered this animal, which we think is a fisher. I saw one about 4:30 in the afternoon crossing in front of me on the street not too long ago. So strange. The fisher was coming for 3 chickens who had rooster on the porch next to me. As it started to walk around to the drivers side we turned a bit and drove away baffled by what we just saw. Looking out, there she was, the red fox. Besides, dead weight is actual weight. I mean, they’ve got to eat too, but it’s heart-wrenching to hear it happening to a pet who should have been kept inside. In Boltan Landing, NY, at the Black Bass Antique Shop, which specializes in vintage fishing equipment and restored outboard motors, they have a Fisher taxidermy which I had a chance to closely examine. I came inside and found this website after a bit and am pleasantly surprised to learn what is living in my backyard.What about this for an explanation… maybe the FC makes the same exact sounds of ALL his prey in order to call his prey to him for an easy dinner… he may just have built in prey calls naturally… could be why everyone believes something different. They get a bad rap because they have know where else to go with overdevelopment everywhere!

Cat came out of the woods and attempted to swat the front tire. I personally have heard them, seen them in the night and have experienced their havoc. So it would make perfect sense that it would respond to your audio. He will chase animals but maybe because of the mouth thing with labs he doesn’t actually bite them hard enough. Several times the fishercat and its eerie and haunting screech has been within 100 feet of my back porch.I have been mesmerized by its cry, almost like that of an unfinished cry of a baby. They make turkey sounds. high pitched child crying, and getting murdered!” I thought, good grief.

I heard a Fisher for the first time las night and, as emily says above, it sounded like child murder to me. i tried to rescue the hen but too late. Keeping pets and pet food indoors will minimize conflict between humans and fishers, but it will not make fishers move on. I was just trying to share information when you asked about territory, etc. I have seen this nasty thing, 5pm, barking pretty close to my house, responding to my dogs barking. But we also have racoons, owls, opossums, and grey fox. I keep telling all my neighbors that live here to keep there animals in at night. The noise as well as the rigorous shaking of the branches went on for about 25 mins before the fisher either got startled or gave up and took off cuz it couldn’t get to the cat.

I’ve wasted too much of my valuable time already.

That mother would have certainly killed a small child it was in such a frenzy. Instead of encourage the trapping/killing of wildlife that has been within the space long before humans.We’re all animals Dave. Please.The first 50 seconds of things that scream in the woods is a pair of Barred Owls. Just prior to the latest incident last week, I heard what I thought was a cat fight. If you live near woodlands and are concerned about your pets…keep them inside.That is a red fox call.
