After learning more about commercial bookbinding from one of our customers we gained interest in smaller scale DIY bookbinding.

It is acid free but not sure if it dries flexible.TY. I used letter size but front side is double printed as well as the back ( booklet style ) so each book size page would be 8 1/2 x 5 inches. But the required application equipment is expensive. I have bound a couple books with PVA and I just don’t feel very confident with the results. I’ve used color laser printers as well and they have two downsides.

Skip to main content. When making your own books the binding will have a much better end result if you use hot melt vs. basic glue. The water does not have to be added. Stack some weight on the book for a few hours until the glue is dry. My main problem with hot glues is the difficulty of creating an even application of glue without making a huge mess.PUR glues seem to have all of the key properties of a good binding glue, I just haven’t had a chance to experiment with it yet.PUR glues are a specialty item that seems to be sold inside the commercial binding business.
