4 weeks before the fight, Doppo competed in his first fight in the SFC against a Siberian Tiger. In the emotional fight between the two warriors, people declared it more of a massacre than an actual fight. Orochi dominated their fight so much that he started to toy with the undefeated Brazilian. When in combat he wears the traditional Karate gi with rolled sleeves and a black belt signifying his rank. After the fight, Igari Kanji announced his retirement from the SFC and congratulated Doppo on his victory; admitting that he was wrong about the Tiger Slayer. Doppo would regularly travel around Tokyo getting in fights with the U.S. Military Police per the Yakuza’s orders to instill fear in the foreign officers. Doppo then avenges his loss to Dorian by beating him so badly that the convict needed to be hospitalized. Igari said he made a promise that he would not stop fighting until he beat Orochi and he planned to fulfill that promise.
Much to Igari Kanji’s surprise however, he was the one getting massacred. Doppo built a shack on the side of the mountain. The loss to the American shamed Doppo greatly and Doppo decided he would not return back to his homeland of Japan until he avenged the loss. He informed Tokugawa to take his name off of the active roster and thanked the crowd in attendance for supporting him for 15 years.
Kiyosumi Katou and Atsushi Suedo watches him and are amazed that he has recovered so quickly after the tragic battle with Yujiro. She appears frequently throughout the series, showing up to watch Doppo's fights in the Maximum Tournament. Doppo looks at Gen with remorse and says “It was an honor to battle you sir, you are the greatest opponent I have ever faced, and you’ve served Asia, proud.” Doppo then preforms his most lethal technique The Tiger Chop, breaking Gen's neck and killing the Martial Arts Legend. He trained with Funakoshi for his remaining two years at university. In another lesson Tokuji gave young Doppo a seed which he was to plant; when it sprouted, Doppo was to jump over it one hundred times every day. Doppo Orochi still in an angered daze cared nothing about Kanji’s comments. After a year of intense training, Doppo's muscles and height increased. Doppo did not fight much during the next year due to a concession for being the SFC’s longest reigning champion. Doppo did however; notice Tokugawa’s sick pleaser in watching a fight. Tokugawa informed Doppo that he was funding construction on an underground arena below the Tokyo Dome; where he will run fights pitting top martial artists from all varieties of disciplines against each other in no holds barred combat. Doppo however, was lucky enough to have it reattached shortly after. Katsumi volunteers to fight Dorian, but Doppo stops his son from fighting the convict saying "It’s my duty as founder of the Shinshinkai karate dojo to fight him"; when in truth he was just concerned for the safety of his son. Doppo also felt it would be a great chance for him to totally crush China as the Chinese people looked at Yue Shu Ya as a modern day Gen Hou. During his rematch fight with Yujiro; Yujiro gouges out Doppo's right eye and since then has wore an eye patch even underneath his trademark sunglasses.
When Doppo asked Tokugawa what he was serving time for, Tokugawa told him that he was serving for organizing illegal animal fights and animal cruelty. Zenshi decided that he could not continue and Doppo retained his title. At the age of 18, Doppo left Yokohama and moved to Tokyo to start his own life’s journey. As the reputation of the dojo grew, students were attracted to come to train there from inside and outside Japan and the number of students grew. Shintaro Kuno accompanied him, but after the rigors of this isolated training, with no modern conveniences, Shintaro snuck away one night, and left Doppo alone. Despite his illness, he never gave up training. A young fighter tells him that his teachings are weak and impractical in real combat. Doppo spent his later years out of the spotlight of competitive fighting and dedicated his life to writing books. Doppo always kept in touch with his good friend Tokugawa and occasionally sat in the crowd during SFC events.
Doppo became a student and continued his lifelong career in Karate. When Doppo finally fought Igari Kanji, the crowd was solidly behind Doppo instead of the usual fan favorite Igari Kanji. Doppo wrote over 80 books in Japanese; with half being translated over 50 different languages. Unfortunately for Lebell his overzealousness woke Doppo up and when his head hit the floor, Doppo immediately sprang up to continue the fight. Funakoshi described Doppo as very straightforward, honest, and the ultimate training fanatic. After 2 years at Waseda, Orochi attended Takushoku University in Tokyo and after joining the Karate club Doppo was accepted as a student at the dojo of Gichin Funakoshi. Doppo’s cellmate was also the only one in the prison who could make him laugh. Doppo is a bald man about average height very muscular man in his 60's he has two scars on his face (one on the right side of his face and left side of his cheek) from his short battle with Yujiro Hanma. After a few seconds of both competitors laying on the ground, Doppo gets up and walks over to the still grounded Gen. Gen begs Doppo to end his suffering. Doppo’s aim is not at all the princess; he simply participates to test his Karate and hopefully avenge his loss to Keith Wayne. Doppo saw the kicks coming and could have easily blocked them, the alcohol in his system slowed his reaction time and he could not defend himself. When it is confirmed the he is Doppo Orochi, Yujiro seems sinisterly pleased and gives Doppo 2 kicks to his face which immediately opens cuts on his face; the cuts would turn into permanent scars. Doppo thought of his father as being invincible and unbeatable. In Japan, books were written about him, feature-length films splashed his colorful life across the big screen, and comic books recounted his many adventures.
