Yeah this is based on real events , and the cage character Yuri combines aspects of the American dream as he rises up economically and does what he loves-sells guns .

Cage plays an illegal arms dealer, inspired by the stories of several real-life arms dealers and smugglers. Recommended. Not bad, slightly underwhelming. I don't think this is cynicism on Niccol's part, rather only stating what is so given all of history and now. Outside Cage fans, it may appeal to those interested in the historical context that the film covers - early 90s illegal arms trade in Africa.
