Later when Ace was a troubled child that beat anyone up that insulted his father, Garp seemed amused with Ace, yet never scolded him for his actions, as a part of him felt sad that the child did not fully accept Roger as his father.
Though Monkey D. Kong is shown related to Garp due to being in Marine . After Luffy was hurled over the siege wall and stood before the three admirals, Garp was shown to be worried about his grandson. He also has a stitched scar under his left eye. Garp appears proud when Luffy commits outrageous acts. After this, he left Luffy in the care of Dadan.
