People are trying to make this out as some sort of predictive story for Covid-19 as it was written in 1981 and the virus they talk about was created in a lab in Wuhan. The story Thematically, this book is about a mother who is trying to survive the death of her son, Danny. It's amazing to me how he can weave a tale so crazy that when I try to explain what I'm reading This book has gotten many negative reviews - so I guess I'm easily entertained because I loved it! Of course, there was the excitement of the chase - typical of so many Dean Koontz novels. I don't see this as a horror genre so if you are reluctant to read, don't be! And what a DREADFUL ENDING!I'm not sure I've ever read any of Dean Koontz's books before and I admit I picked this up as it popped up on some list with something about pandemic's. He died in a horrible bus accident, and a year later she believes she sees her son’s specter in her house.

Good characters as typical Koontz. This novel was a book read as part of my Koontzland reading group selection for earlier this year, but I hadn’t gotten to it until now. Surely, someone is trying to block any discoveries about the accident or Danny’s body, but why.

Could the accident and the death of all these Scouts be a cover-up for something bigger?
:) This was a pretty predictable, trite story of a mother’s fight to save her son whom she has believed dead in an accident for over a year. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. The characters are shallow and unsympathetic, their reactions to events often unbelievable.
