When I put it in foward gear and start moving foward I will go about 200 feet and the red reverse starts blinking on and off as I drive foward.
its a self test to insure the engine speed sensor is working. .
Kind of made me almost freak for a minute thinking it was going to jump into gear or something. But I'm like F*ck it, I'm trading it in, sounds like the dealer is going to have a problem, but I guess not!

Then I turned the choke off and let it idle, and the reverse light kept flashing, know what the problem is?i forget the exact specs, but i believe its over 1800 rpm for over 30 seconds will set the "code". Is the blinking light consistent when the problem happens like one blink per second or whatever, If not it is either chafing in wiring too short to ground or to positive on whatever system the rhino runs off of for switching. .

My first thought is to check out the wiring. I have a 2006 Rhino 660 and the red reverse light on the dash panel lights solid red when in reverse gear like it it supposed to.

On Polaris some of the systems are switched on the negatived side which means positive to ground would turn on a light but that depends on the system used.....Sorry I can not be much more help do to the fact that I am not fully familiar with yamaha's way for doing electronics......The only problem I have had is sometimes my neutral light doesnt come on unless you wiggle the shifter a bit side to side but I think that may just be the switch is not lined up right.Do you have the digital dash or the light cluster? I can put it in reverse and it will come on solid red just like it is supposed to.
. It stays blinking even if I stop,can put it in neutral and it stops blinking and the green neutral light comes.
