The place this talisman is hidden is not far away, but is guarded by 3 level 14 "undead" elves and two "sentient meteor storms(?)." You get "Iniquity Forgiven" at this point too. Gareth went back to The Lady Vengence and I looted Jonathans body. Hunting Jonathan I had to pull the Paladin Checkpoint into the Scarecrow fight up by where I found Gareth. ... Everything, otherwise, one and two shot me on Tactician and I have a fair share of epic and legendary gear (level 7 Lucky Charm helps) and all skills (Thievery 7 and bartering 8 helps). I believe it works like this: kill Jonathan (Gareth can't quite do it) and it will be a different White Magister in the Blackpits (for 1 of my favorite fights of the game).
I thought I was being careful but I went up the dwarf eagle tower in the graveyard and it was high enough that it gave me vision of his parent's house and triggered their death.I've just tested out, its not likely a timed thing - rather it depends on the map sequence you go for. and done.
You will NOT gain the achievement if your Persuasion skill is too high, so it is best to let a character with no Persuasion do the deed. Sucks because I'm RPing a Hero and I know my character would have run up the hill and tried to get the Dr to help save them if it was possible.

Otherwise, if you trigger the farm first, then Gareth's death is certain. I guess his parents are dead by noe and I was supposed to go somewhere else first? Speak to him. : D it's the best gain.It's true, this is the first quest you should do just after getting off the boat to get max exp from the voidwoken quest from gareths parents.If you want to keep his parents alive you should go straight towards where Gareth is standing over Jonathan ASAP when entering the act.
