The sphagnum moss your plant is in, should always be kept just slightly moist and never wet for longer periods of time, this can lead to root rot very quickly. I currently own 4 of these beauties, with number 5 due to join the gloriosum fam very soon. If the leaves are getting droopy, it indicates excess or inadequate water. It can lead to swellings in the mouth area as well as cramps and irritations. Is it well draining? I used to have mine in LECA then some roots rotted, put them only in water and there were so many leaves starting to pop up.I put it back into LECA and it seems to be ok but the leaves don’t stand to show the heart (they seem to be dropping?). If ingested it can lead to irritations of the throat, swallowing problems, oral pain cramps and many more. The upper half of the rhizome should remain exposed.The problem with a buried rhizome is that it is more likely to rot if the soil stays moist. One may ask why on earth a plant would appreciate having charcoal in its soil. This plant is in our opinion easier to propagate than many of the other Philodendron and Monstera.The biggest advantage is that if the rhizome stays on the soil and will grow roots down into the soil.
