I try to clean my covers every three months but sometimes things happen (like toddler puke) and it soaks through the covers onto the cushion.I’m considering busting out my carpet cleaner and using it with the covers on, but not sure how good of an idea that is.Hi Bibi! You’re obviously doing something right if they’v lasted 10 years! It disintegrates the stitching so they fall apart. Hope this helps! Different colours and patterns of the IKEA slipcovers are made from various fabrics and various mixes of fabrics and require different care.My sofa is from the Ektorp series and has the ” Vittaryd White” Slipcover.This is before I do my “hand ironing”, notice the bottom of the slipcover:This is the after, notice the bottom wrinkles are almost gone:Now that the covers are all on and smoothed out I place the cushions all around so that they stay smooth and they can dry evenly all around. So sorry for the delay..I’ve only had a red wine spill once and we dabbed at the with a tide pen! We make great replacement covers that fit perfectly to IKEA's most popular sofas, chairs and armchairs. I find that they look a lot better together now. Is there any difference other than the material?Hi Lisa, the farlov covers have a much different texture and are a lot more yellow than the ektorp. The farlov is a little more yellow than the ektorp. The blue square pillow is from Dannielle Oakey Shop and the blue lumbar is from Homesense. My ektorp says just don’t wash….not paying attention to that.Thank you SO much! I have a very small space so the farlov is close to the ektorp and you could tell a difference in the shades. Sofa is sold separately. I’m finding myself washing these all the time. I’ve found a few people who do so and I want to stop them!
I’ll share how I did both the farlov and ektorp covers. We are actively working to improve these issues. Other than that it should be fine.

There’s nothing like having clean and great looking slipcovers every few months.It sounds like a lot of work but it’s worth it because it looks so crisp and clean in the end.
IKEA - KIVIK, Cover three-seat sofa, Orrsta light grey, The cover is easy to keep clean as it is removable and can be machine washed. I also put them in the dryer to tumble but on air fluff..no heat. They do wash up great but I am running into trouble bc very time I see a stain I feel like I have to wash it right away so the stain doesn’t set in.

Having said that, after the farlov covers’ first wash (I wash them with a bit of oxiclean) they come out more white and I find the two fabrics look better together now.

I wash it in a normal wash cycle but add an extra rinse to make sure they’re as white as can be. I can’t see why not. I’m not sure of the size..it’s a front loader. Any tips on how to get a red wine stain out of one of these white covers?
