[introducing herself to Bond on the train traveling towards Montenegro]  Of course i don't know what their intention was for the movie, because they have trouble sticking with Fleming.Everyone keeps saying that she died for him, that if she didn't kill herself then Bond would have died as well. Wouldn't that be dangerous?

Why did Vesper's death save Bond's life? I don't see how she died for him. To me it looked as though she was trying to save Yusef's skin.

That's probably why they both were given the "code" to the door so that they could meet up inside. Well, regarding strictly to what M said about Vesper's death, as an explanation to OO7 (and as an epilogue): "She hoped that they let her live, but she knew that she was going to her death".

Long answer: In almost every story, there is a hero, a villain, and supporting characters.

But Bond already suspected Mathis was the traitor and Vesper was kidnapped forcefully, so the line just seemed a bit unnecessary or our of place since it was pretty clear we already suspected that setup. After what happened - Vesper falling for Bond, Bond getting tortured himself - Vesper found herself at an impasse.
